COVID-19 has forced many live events online, and Herzog College embraced this opportunity to share its annual Tanakh conference with a huge international audience. 11,000 people attended 70 lectures and virtual tours of Tanakh sites around Israel screened around the world in Hebrew and in English free of charge. Some of the Hebrew lectures were followed by live discussions with the teachers, to replicate the opportunity for interaction that is a unique feature of the annual Yemei Iyun B’Tanakh event in Alon Shvut.
English language lecturers included HaRav Moshe Lichtenstein, Rabbi Moshe Taragin, Rabbi Menachem Leibtag, Rabbanit Shani Taragin, Dr. Yael Ziegler, Rabbi Alex Israel, Dr. Erica Brown, Rabbi Yitzchak Etshalom, and Rabbi Adam Mintz. For those following the 929 and Tanakh Herzog Daily Chapter program, there were special classes about Sefer Yonah and Sefer Micha. Lectures on the first day of the Yemei Iyun B’Tanakh were dedicated to the memory of HaRav Yehuda Amital zt”l, founding Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Etzion, to commemorate his 10th Yarzheit.
The Yemei Iyun B’Tanakh took place from Sunday, July 26 through Tuesday, July 28 (5-7 Menahem Av), with special classes focusing on Tisha B’Av on Wednesday, 29 and Thursday, 30 July, 2020, in partnership with World Mizrachi. The lectures were screened twice each day – once according to the Israel clock and once according to the United States EDT clock.
The lectures were recorded and made available after the event to supporters. Click here to make a donation to support the Yemei Iyun and receive access to the recordings.
